We stripped back the builder-grade finishes so the original character of this 1904 foursquare could shine. Phase one of this project focused on cosmetics; phases two and three will involve structural changes, including reworking the kitchen footprint and adding pocket doors and custom millwork.
To unite the spaces of this open floor plan (the walls separating the rooms were unfortunately removed when the home was flipped), we chose a warm white on the walls and neutral furnishings in interesting shapes. Big, beautiful area rugs cover the floors until the homeowner is ready to replace them with period-appropriate hardwoods.
Books and art fill the dining space (above), while in the piano room (below), modern pieces mingle with inherited antiques.
In the primary bedroom, the carpet was pulled back to expose the floorboards, which were given a generous coat of white paint.
A child’s bedroom (below) features both whimsical pieces and furniture that can grow with the child.
